PHILADELPHIA - Matt D'Agostini had a goal and two assists to lead the Hamilton Bulldogs to a 5-3 win over the Philadelphia Phantoms in American Hockey League action Sunday.
The win snaps the Bulldogs' franchise-long winless streak at 12 games and improves their record to 32-32-3-6 on the season.
Hamilton opened the scoring at 4:36 of the first period when Kyle Chipchura snapped a shot past netminder Jeremy Duchesne for his ninth goal of the season.
Chipchura earned his second point of the night by setting up rookie Brock Trotter's power-play marker at 12:18 of the first to give Hamilton a two-goal lead.
D'Agostini then took a pass from Degon and buried his 20th goal of the season at the 17:31 mark. D'Agostini has now reached the 20-goal plateau in each of his first-two AHL seasons.
Martin Houle replaced starting goaltender Duchesne between the pipes for Philadelphia at the start of the second period. Duchesne left the game with five saves on eight shots.
Ryan Potulny got the Phantoms on the scoreboard at 4:02 of the second period with a power-play goal.
The teams exchanged goals just 17 seconds apart in the final minute of the second period. Eric Manlow extended Hamilton's lead to 4-1 at 19:21 of the frame with a power-play marker. Triston Grant responded for Philadelphia with a short-handed goal at 19:38.
Potulny pulled the Phantoms within a goal at 19:02 of the third period before Duncan Milroy sealed the Bulldogs win with an empty-net goal 37 seconds later.
Yann Danis made 36 saves on 39 shots in the win for Hamilton. Philadelphia's Houle stopped 16 of the 17 shots he faced in relief of Duchesne.
