Devils forward Patrik Elias scores 400th NHL goal

NEWARK, N.J. -- New Jersey Devils forward Patrik Elias became the 91st player in NHL history to reach 400 goals when he scored 1:23 into the second period against the Toronto Maple Leafs at Prudential Center on Friday.

The goal, Elias' first in 10 games, was assisted by Travis Zajac and Jon Merrill and gave the Devils a 2-0 lead. Elias, 38, received a standing ovation following the goal.

Elias was the 80th player in League history to reach 600 assists and the 82nd to reach 1,000 points. In 1,197 games spanning 17 seasons, all with the Devils, Elias has 400 goals, 605 assists and 1,005 points.

He was selected in the second round (No. 51) of the 1994 NHL Draft. He has seven goals and 22 points in 41 games in 2014-15.
