Derek Whitmore scores four goals as Americans hold off Bulldogs 5-3 @NHLdotcom

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Derek Whitmore scored four goals to power the Rochester Americans over the Hamilton Bulldogs 5-3 on Friday in the American Hockey League.

Whitmore made it 2-0 with less than two minutes into the game. He scored 32 seconds into the game, then doubled the lead with a goal at 1:53.

Whitmore also had the last two goals of the game. With the game tied 3-3, he scored the go-ahead goal while on the power play at 5:52 of the third and then gave the Americans some breathing room with his fourth at 12:12.

Maxime Legault had the other goal for Rochester (10-7-3), while David Leggio made 31 saves.

Alex Henry, Joe Callahan and Dany Masse scored for the Bulldogs (6-11-2).

Robert Mayer made 29 saves on 34 shots for Hamilton.
