Coyotes move into Pacific Division lead @NHLdotcom

GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) - The Phoenix Coyotes head into March with the Pacific Division lead, thanks to another fantastic February.

Stuck in 12th in the Western Conference when the month started, the Coyotes were tied for fifth when it was over after earning at least a point in all 12 games. Phoenix earned 23 of a possible 24 points during the run and is third in the conference standings because it leads the Pacific Division.

Goaltending keyed big February runs the past two seasons and this year has been no different.

The only change is that it's Mike Smith between the pipes instead of Ilya Bryzgalov.

Smith, in his first season in the desert, enters Thursday night's game against Calgary with a career-best and franchise-record 11-game winning streak.
