OTTAWA - Corey Cowick scored twice Friday night to lead the Ottawa 67's past the Sarnia Sting 3-0 at the Civic Centre.
Thomas Nesbitt added a goal and two assists while 67's captain Logan Couture had three helpers in the win. Adam Courchaine picked up his first victory in just his third start of the season after missing time with a groin injury. He made 25 saves for the shutout.
Dan Spence was solid in goal for the Sting making 32 saves including several highlight reel stops. He was making just his second start for the Sting since coming over from the Calgary Hitmen of the Western Hockey League earlier in the week.
"Their goaltender was great," said 67's coach and general manager Brian Kilrea. "He made save after save to keep them in there. We dominated in areas and had a lot of good scoring chances and fortunately something gave and we got a couple to help us breathe easier."
After a scoreless first period, Cowick and Nesbitt scored power play goals in the second period. Cowick closed out the scoring with a little more than six minutes to play in the third.
