OTTAWA - Corey Cowick and Anthony Nigro each scored a pair of goals and set up another Sunday to lead the Ottawa 67's to a 6-2 victory over the Niagara IceDogs in Ontario Hockey League playoff action.
Cowick struck once on the power play and had a shorthanded marker and Nigro also scored on the man advantage. The 67's, the third seed in the Eastern Conference, came back from an early deficit to even the best-of-seven series at one win apiece after dropping the opener 5-3 at home on Friday night.
Logan Couture, the third member of Ottawa's top line, recorded four assists.
The victory snapped a nine-game losing skid for the 67's in the post-season dating back to March 27, 2007.
"When all lines are contributing like they did today - I think almost every line had a goal - that's what we need, that's our depth and that's going to win us games," Cowick said.
Rookie Tyler Toffoli had his first playoff goal and added an assist on Cody Lindsay's first.
Julien Demers added a pair of assists and goaltender Chris Perugini earned his first post-season win with 41 saves.
Dylan MacEachern gave the IceDogs the lead with the opening goal at the 3:53 mark of the first period. Alex Pietrangelo later scored on the power play for Niagara and Jeremy Smith stopped 34 shots.
the next three games in the series are all at St. Catharines beginning on Tuesday night.
