Connor McDavid suffers hand injury as Otters down Steelheads 4-0 @NHLdotcom

ERIE, Pa. - Top prospect Connor McDavid had a goal and an assist before leaving the game with a hand injury, and Daniel Dekoning made 22 saves as the Erie Otters blanked the Mississauga Steelheads 4-0 in Ontario Hockey League action on Tuesday.

McDavid is ruled out indefinitely after injuring his hand in a fight with Mississauga's Bryson Cianfrone at 13:50 of the second period. Both players were given five-minute penalties for fighting and McDavid received an additional game misconduct for removing his helmet.

The 17-year-old centre will visit a hand specialist Wednesday for further examination.

Dylan Strome also had a goal and an assist for the Western Conference leading Otters (16-1-1) and Alex DeBrincat and Kyle Pettit rounded out the offence. McDavid's goal, on a power play at 5:08 of the second period, was his 16th of the season.

Cameron Zanussi made 25 saves for the Steelheads (6-9-1), who dropped their third straight game.
