Combs had goal, three assists to lead Spirit to 4-2 OHL win over Whalers @NHLdotcom

PLYMOUTH, Mich. - Jack Combs had a goal and three assists Thursday to lead the Saginaw Spirit to a 4-2 win over the Plymouth Whalers in OHL action.

Chris Chappell and Ryan McDonough both had a goal and an assist for Saginaw (15-14-3-1) while rookie Jordan Szwarz added the other goal.

Ryan Daniels earned the win in goal with 27 saves.

A.J. Jenks and Wes Cunningham scored power-play goals for Plymouth (19-10-2-2). Goaltender Matt Hackett, acquired from Windsor last month, stopped 38 shots in his Whalers debut.

Regular goalie Jeremy Smith, who had started the last 15 games prior to the Christmas break, is playing for the United States at the world junior hockey championship.
