BRAMPTON, Ont. - Shawn Frank's goal at 5:37 of the third period broke a scoreless tie and Michael Hutchinson turned aside all 34 shots he faced as the Barrie Colts defeated the Battalion 2-0, eliminating Brampton 4-1 in the OHL quarter-final playoff series.
It's the third consecutive season Barrie has eliminated Brampton from the post-season.
Colt Kennedy tallied 47 seconds after Frank's goal to add some insurance.
Despite coming into the series as the number two seed in the Eastern Conference, the Battalion was unable to solve seventh-ranked Barrie, who played a tight defensive style and kept Brampton's scoring chances to a minimum.
Bryan Pitton performed admirably between the pipes for Brampton, stopping 29 of the 31 shots directed at him.
The Colts have dominated the Battalion in the past three post-seasons, winning 12 of 14 games.
