Colorado Avalanche vs. Chicago Blackhawks @NHLdotcom
Avalanche-Blackhawks Preview

GAME: Colorado Avalanche (22-10-7-2) at Chicago Blackhawks (11-21-7-4).

TIME: Sunday, 8 p.m. EST.

The Colorado Avalanche hope to keep racking up points as they wrap up a three-game road trip against the Chicago Blackhawks at the United Center.

The Avalanche have earned points in 17 of their last 20 games (10-3-6-1), including a 4-2 victory at Dallas on Saturday. They are 1-0-0-1 on the trip, and have won five of their last six overall.

Colorado has the third-best record in the Western Conference with 53 points. Only Detroit (58) and Vancouver (56) are better.

"With parity in our league and our conference, it's important to stay consistent," Colorado coach Tony Granato said. "At this point, we've got to be pretty happy with where we are."

Colorado boasts the NHL's best power-play unit on the road, and is second overall behind Philadelphia. The Avalanche have scored 10 power-play goals in 25 chances the past five games. They were 3-for-7 on the man advantage Saturday, getting two power-play goals from Alex Tanguay and one from Adam Foote.

Peter Forsberg added an assist for the Avalanche, giving him 10 points in his last five games. The 6-foot-1 center, who led Colorado in scoring with 106 points last season, returned to the lineup on Dec. 27 after missing 19 games with groin and abdominal injuries.

Colorado is 6-1-0-1 since his return.

The Avalanche lost star forward Teemu Selanne early in the second period of Saturday's game due to a neck injury suffered when he was elbowed by Dallas' David Oliver.

Selanne, third on the team with 11 goals this season, did not return. His status for Sunday was not disclosed.

The Blackhawks ended a two-game losing streak Thursday, beating visiting Calgary 3-1. It was only their fifth victory in the last 29 games (5-16-4-4).

Steve Sullivan, Bryan Berard and Kyle Calder scored for the Blackhawks, and Tyler Arnason assisted on all three goals.

Calder, who leads Chicago with 11 goals this season, has a four-game point streak.
