The Detroit Tigers' trip to the World Series is paying off for former Red Wings star Dino Ciccarelli.
Fans have been enjoying playoff baseball at Ciccarelli's Sports Bar Theater in Shelby Township, Mich., located on the state's west coast, about 30 miles from Detroit.
"Obviously, I'm a fan as much as a restaurant owner," Ciccarelli told the Detroit News this week. "The World Series will be off the hook, too.
"Sometimes people will call for reservations, but we don't take them. When someone comes in, they're staying for three or four hours."
The report said Ciccarelli and Tigers manager Jim Leyland became friends when both were in south Florida -- Ciccarelli as a player with the Florida Panthers and Leyland as manager of the Florida Marlins.
Ciccarelli, who played for the Red Wings from 1992-96, is rooting for the Tigers to duplicate the feat of the Marlins, who won the World Series in 1997 while the 600-goal scorer was starting his first of two seasons with the Panthers.
Game 1 against the Giants is Wednesday in San Francisco. The Tigers return home for Games 3, 4 and 5 starting Saturday.
"I'm a big fan, especially this time of year, as everybody in the Detroit area is," Ciccarelli said.
