Carrick scores two goals, leads Marlies to 5-4 victory over Senators @NHLdotcom

TORONTO - Sam Carrick scored his second goal of the game midway through the third period as the Toronto Marlies beat the Binghamton Senators 5-4 in American Hockey League action Monday.

Ryan Rupert also had two goals for Toronto (21-19-9), while Josh Leivo also scored.

Cole Schneider, Garrett Thompson, Derek Grant and Jean-Gabriel Pageau scored for the Senators (20-24-6).

Christopher Gibson made 22 saves for the Marlies, while Peter Mannino stopped 26 shots for Binghamton.

Carrick opened the scoring with a short-handed goal, but Schneider and Thompson scored in the second half of the opening period to make it 2-1 Binghamton after 20 minutes.

Leivo tied the game 36 seconds into the second period, then back-to-back goals from Rupert gave Toronto a 4-2 lead entering the second intermission.

Grant, with a power-play goal, and Pageau scored 33 seconds apart to tie the game before Carrick capped the scoring with his fifth of the season.

Toronto was 0-for-6 on the power play, while Binghamton was 1-for-4.
