Brunner to make season debut for Devils

by Mike G. Morreale

NEWARK, N.J. -- New Jersey Devils forward Damien Brunner will make his season debut on Saturday against the San Jose Sharks at Prudential Center.

Brunner, who had 11 goals and 25 points in 60 games in 2013-14, his first season with the Devils, will replace Marty Havlat, who is day-to-day with facial lacerations he sustained in a 6-2 loss against the Washington Capitals on Thursday.

"He's been waiting for this," Devils coach Pete DeBoer said of Brunner. "He had a good training camp and has been sitting patiently waiting for an opportunity. So I'm sure he's excited about that and he'll have to make the most of it."

Brunner will likely begin the game on right wing with center Patrik Elias and left wing Dainius Zubrus.
