Bruins go on team-building trip in quest to repeat

BOSTON (AP) - The defending Stanley Cup champion Boston Bruins have a lot of games at home to start the season, and coach Claude Julien was worried about the effect this might have on his team.

So he took the Bruins to an island off the coast of Maine for team-building. The goal of the trip to Great Diamond Island was to get them to spend some time together the way teams do when they are forced to travel together.

Last year's team played exhibition games in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and in the Czech Republic before opening the regular season in Prague. That worked out OK, as they won their first NHL title since 1972.

Julien said he's trying to treat this year just like previous years. But he also thinks the team's experience will help.
