Bruins down Hurricanes 4-2 to record 13th straight home victory @NHL

BOSTON - David Krejci and Shawn Thornton scored third-period goals to lift the Boston Bruins to their 13th straight home victory, a 4-2 triumph over the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday.

Marc Savard and Simon Yelle also scored for Boston, which won its fourth straight overall to extend its longest home winning streak in 32 years. The Bruins are 18-2-1 in their last 21 games, winning nine of their last 10.

However, Boston forward Patrice Bergeron had to be helped off the ice after a scary collision. Bergeron missed the bulk of last year recovering from a concussion.

Bergeron's status wasn't immediately available after the game.

Manny Fernandez made 32 saves and improved to 10-1-1 in his last 12 starts for Boston.

Joni Pitkanen opened the scoring on the Hurricanes' first-period power play. Ray Whitney added a goal 15:24 into the third.

Cam Ward stopped 32 shots for Carolina.
