Half of Eastern Conference match-ups set with Flyers SO win

When the Flyers knocked the New York Rangers out of the postseason with its 2-1 shootout win at Wachovia Center in Philadelphia, they vaulted from the playoff bubble to the No. 7 seed in the East. That placed Montreal as the No. 8 seed, setting up a first-round series with Eastern Conference No. 1 seed Washington Capitals.

It is also decided that the Stanley Cup champion and No. 4-seeded Pittsburgh Penguins will host No. 5 Ottawa.

The jubilant Flyers now await the result of the 5 p.m. ET game between the Sabres and Devils in New Jersey determine which team is No. 2 seed and host to Philly. The No. 3 seed will host Boston.

 If the Devils get at least one point, they are the second seed and the Flyers opening-round opponent. The Sabres must win in regulation to earn the No. 2 seed.
