Boston College wins Beanpot tournament
NHL.com @NHLdotcomPatrick Brown tipped in a shot from the point with less than six minutes remaining for the tiebreaking goal and added another in the final minute, lifting Boston College to its school-record fifth straight Beanpot championship with a 4-1 win against Northeastern on Monday.
Boston College (22-4-3) extended its unbeaten streak to 15 games (14-0-1) on the same day it took over the No. 1 spot in the national rankings.
Johnny Gaudreau, a Calgary Flames prospect and the leading scorer in the country, extended his nation-best point streak to 24 games with an empty-net goal and an assist. Kevin Hayes, who was the Chicago Blackhawks' first-round pick (No. 24) at the 2010 NHL Draft, had the other goal for Boston College.
John Stevens scored for Northeastern (16-10-3); Clay Witt made 37 saves.
