Boston Bruins sign defenceman Aaron Ward to multi-year extension @NHLdotcom

BOSTON - The Boston Bruins have signed defenceman Aaron Ward to a multi-year contract extension.

The three-time Stanley Cup champion had 13 points (5-8) in 65 regular season games for the Bruins last season. He also registered a career high plus-nine rating, led the team in blocked shots (119) and finished third on the team in hits (143).

The 35-year-old Ottawa native has 128 points (40-88) in 697 career NHL games over 13 seasons with Detroit, Carolina, New York and Boston.

He was selected fifth overall in the 1991 NHL draft by the Winnipeg Jets.
