Swedish forward Simon Hjalmarsson signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Columbus Blue Jackets on Wednesday. Financial terms were not announced.
Hjalmarsson, 25, had 27 goals and 57 points in 55 games with Linkoping of the Swedish Hockey League. He was third in the league in goals and points, and had five goals and nine points in 14 playoff games.
The 5-foot-11, 161-pound right wing was selected by the St. Louis Blues in the second round (No. 39) of the 2007 NHL Draft but never came to play in North America.
Blue Jackets general manager Jarmo Kekalainen was the director of scouting for the Blues when St. Louis drafted Hjalmarsson.
