Forward Matt Calvert signed a three-year contract with the Columbus Blue Jackets on Thursday.
The contract is worth $6.6 million with an average annual value of $2.2 million, according to war-on-ice.com.
"We've been close to getting it done for a few weeks now," Calvert told The Columbus Dispatch. "I'm excited to know I'll be back in Columbus. This is where I want to be, and this is where I want to win, and I think we're going to have a great season."
Selected by the Blue Jackets in the fifth round (No. 127) of the 2008 NHL Draft, Calvert, 25, had 13 goals and 23 points last season in 56 games, and has 42 goals and 86 points in 209 NHL games.
"Matt Calvert is a heart and soul player, who works hard on and off the ice and is a relentless competitor at both ends of the rink," general manager Jarmo Kekalainen told the Blue Jackets website. "He's been an important contributor to our team and we are excited that he will continue to be a part of our organization moving forward."
