Blue Jackets send Mason back to OHL team after stint as backup @NHLdotcom

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Columbus Blue Jackets assigned goaltender Steve Mason to the OHL's Kitchener Rangers on Sunday.

Mason was recalled on Wednesday after Blue Jackets goalie Pascal Leclaire bruised his neck in a collision during a game against Washington. Leclaire did not make the team's trip to Phoenix and San Jose, with Mason backing up Fredrik Norrena. Mason did not see action.

The 19-year has a record of 22-6-3 with a 2.79 goals-against average, .914 save percentage and three shutouts in 31 OHL games with the Rangers and London Knights.

He led Canada to the gold medal at the recent world junior hockey championship in the Czech Republic.
