Blazers' 14th straight victory, 3-2 over Silvertips, sets franchise record @NHLdotcom

EVERETT, Wash. - Colin Smith scored the only goal in the shootout and the Kamloops Blazers set a new franchise record for longest winning streak, beating the Everett Silvertips 3-2 Tuesday night for their 14th straight Western Hockey League victory.

The 14-game winning streak breaks the previous record of 13, which was accomplished in both 1986-87 and 1989-90.

However, the Blazers had to go down to the wire to do it. Chase Souto scored on a scramble out front with 5:21 remaining in regulation to knot it at 2-2.

JC Lipon also scored and Cole Cheveldave made 20 saves in goal for the Blazers (16-0-1), who have yet to lose in regulation this season.

Ryan Harrison and Carson Stadnyk scored for Everett (6-8-2). Austin Lotz made 26 saves in net for the Silvertips.
