Blades score two late goals in second period, beat Ice 3-1 @NHLdotcom

SASKATOON - The Saskatoon Blades broke open a close game with two goals late in the second period in a 3-1 win over the Kootenay Ice.

With Saskatoon trailing 1-0, Jyri Niemi tied the game with a power-play goal at 18:13 of the second period. Sam Klassen made it 2-1 for the Blades (11-18-1-0), scoring with just 17 seconds left in the second. Colton Gillies added an empty-net goal. Ondrej Fiala had two assists.

Steve DaSilva opened the scoring for Kootenay (18-11-3-0).
