CHICAGO -- When the Chicago Blackhawks host the defending Stanley Cup champion Los Angeles Kings on Monday night at United Center (8:30 p.m. ET), they will still be without star right winger Marian Hossa.
Hossa and star left winger Patrick Sharp are both out with upper-body injuries believed to be shoulder related, but the good news for Chicago is that center Andrew Shaw (flu) -- who didn't participate in the team's morning skate -- will play against the Kings.
"[Shaw's] going to be fine," Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville said. "He didn't skate this morning but we gave him some rest and he’s good to go."
During the team's skate, Michael Frolik took Hossa's spot at right wing on the top line, next to captain Jonathan Toews. Fellow fourth-line regular Marcus Kruger bumped up to man the middle of the third line in Shaw's place.
In the game, Kruger will center the fourth line while Shaw heads back to his usual spot.
Sharp, who's skating in conditioning workouts without the full team, has missed six games already and is expected to remain out another couple weeks. This will be the second game Hossa's missed with this injury, but he's listed day-to-day and is expected back on the ice soon.
"He'll be fine," Quenneville said. "We're not that far away from playing him."
Corey Crawford will get the start in goal for Chicago, which is coming off a three-day break after ending a four-game road trip with a disappointing 4-2 loss in Anaheim last week.
