Azevedo has goal, four assists as Rangers take commanding lead over Whalers @NHLdotcom

KITCHENER, Ont. - Justin Azevedo had a goal and four assists as the Kitchener Rangers beat the Plymouth Whalers 7-3 Monday in Ontario Hockey League playoff action.

The Rangers took a 3-0 stranglehold over the first round best-of-seven series. They can go for the sweep Wednesday in Plymouth, Mich.

Matt Halischuk scored twice for the Rangers, while Mike Duco, Mike Mascioli, Nazem Kadri and Mikkel Boedker had the other goals. Nick Spaling added three assists.

Chris Terry had two goals and an assist for Plymouth, while Joe McCann also scored.

Josh Unice made 20 saves for Kitchener while Jeremy Smith stopped 25 shots for Plymouth.
