Aviani scores shoot-out winner as the Chiefs beat the Pats 6-5

SPOKANE, Wash. - Mac Engel made seven saves in a shootout and Mike Aviani scored the final goal as the Spokane Chiefs pulled out a 6-5 win over the Regina Pats in Western Hockey League action on Saturday night.

Blake Gal, Jarid Hauptman, Carter Proft, Steven Kuhn and Dominik Uher all scored for the Chiefs (10-5-3) in regulation time.

Chandler Stevenson scored twice for the Pats (12-8-2) while Jordan Weal, Trent Ouellette and Brandon Underwood added singles.

Engel made 28 saves in regulation and overtime for the win as Matt Hewitt stopped 31 shots in defeat.

Spokane went 1-for-3 on the power play while Regina failed to score on their three opportunities with the man advantage.
