At the Rink: Lightning at Red Wings

by Paul Harris

DETROIT -- Tampa Bay Lightning center Tyler Johnson says the key to winning the second of back-to-back games is mostly mental.

Tampa Bay plays the Detroit Red Wings at Joe Louis Arena on Sunday after defeating the Columbus Blue Jackets 7-4 in Columbus on Saturday.

"It's just the mentality of keeping it simple and keeping it smart," said Johnson, who scored twice in Columbus.

Johnson has four goals and 17 points in 14 games this season.

"He plays both ends of the ice and he's got a special chemistry with [linemate Ondrej Palat]," Lightning coach Jon Copper said of Johnson. "It's a special line (Nikita Kucherov is on the other wing). They can all play the game at an extremely high pace."

Detroit coach Mike Babcock talked about the challenge that Tampa Bay presents to the Red Wings.

"They have good skill in all their units and [Ben] Bishop is one of the best puck handling goalies in the league. So they play fast," Babcock said. "Let's not race 'em to seven. Let's play tight defense."

Defenseman Kyle Quincey returns for Detroit after missing three games with an ankle injury. He'll replace Brian Lashoff.
