Anderson makes 34 saves and Senators hand Capitals 6th straight loss, 2-0
NHL.com @NHLdotcomWASHINGTON - Kyle Turris and Jason Spezza scored, Craig Anderson made 34 saves and the Ottawa Senators beat Washington 2-0 Tuesday night to hand the Alex Ovechkin-less Capitals their sixth straight loss.
With NHL scoring leader Ovechkin sidelined with an unspecified lower-body injury, Washington generated few quality scoring chances, failing to convert on four power plays.
During their six-game skid, the Capitals have scored just seven goals. It was the fourth time Washington has been shut out this year, with all the games at home.
Ottawa improved to 7-1-2 in its last 10 games, vaulting Washington in the Eastern Conference standings.
Turris scored his 15th of the year with just over 7 minutes left in the second period and Spezza scored his 13th goal on a power play midway through the third period.
