KELOWNA, B.C. - Cody Almond had a two-point night for Kelowna, including an empty-net goal from 185 feet, as the Rockets defeated the Tri-City Americans 3-1 in WHL action on Wednesday night.
Evan Bloodoff, with the game-winning goal with five minutes left to play, and Jamie Benn, with his league-leading 21st goal of the season, also scored for Kelowna (14-10-0-0).
Brendan Shinnimin, who opened the scoring late in the first period, replied for Tri-City (14-6-0-2), which had beaten Kelowna in its two previous encounters this season.
Kris Lazaruk made 25 saves for the Rockets in his first start since suffering a shoulder injury on Nov. 4 in a 4-1 loss to the Americans. Chet Pickard turned aside 30 shots for the Americans, who visit the Chilliwack Bruins on Friday.
