The Halifax Mooseheads have been struggling to compete in November, something that Jean-Simon Allard and the Quebec Remparts took full advantage of on Sunday.
Allard had two goals and an assist while goaltender Jonathan Roy stopped all 22 shots he faced to lead the Remparts to a 5-0 rout of Halifax in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.
The Mooseheads (8-17-1-0) have only won once in eight games this November, a 4-2 victory over Gatineau on Nov. 2. Since then, Halifax has dropped six straight.
David Gilbert opened the scoring two minutes and 13 seconds into the game as Quebec (17-4-0-2) outshot the Mooseheads 29-13 over the first 40 minutes.
Benjamin Breault scored a goal and two assists and Dmitri Kugryshev added a goal for the Remparts, who sit atop the East Division with 36 points in 23 games. Kelsey Tessier had four assists.
Elsewhere in the QMJHL, it was: Drummondville 3, Victoriaville 1; Lewiston 5, Rimouski 2; Gatineau 5, P.E.I. 4 (SO); and Montreal 3, Moncton 2.
At Quebec, Roy's shutout was the first of his QMJHL career. He has seven wins so far this season.
Mark Yetman made 33 saves in a losing effort for Halifax.
Voltigeurs 3, Tigres 1
At Victoriaville, Que., Yannick Riendeau and Mike Hoffman had a goal and an assist each to lead Drummondville past the Tigres.
Marc-Olivier Vachon had the other goal for the Voltigeurs (17-4-0-2), who won their fifth straight game.
Maxime Tanguay found the net for Victoriaville (11-15-0-0).
Maineiacs 5, Oceanic 2
At Rimouski, Que., Marc Bourgeois scored twice and added an assist as Lewiston scored four goals in the first period and cruised to victory over the Oceanic.
Alexander Beaton, Billy Lacasse and Denis Reul also scored for the Maineiacs (9-15-0-0), who won for the first time in four games.
Frank Grzeszczak and Felix Lefrancois replied for Rimouski (16-8-0-0), which saw its four-game winning streak come to an end.
Olympiques 5, Rocket 4 (SO)
At Gatineau, Que., Paul Byron and Alexandre Quesnel scored shootout goals as the Olympiques edged P.E.I.
Byron had a goal and an assist while Quesnel had two helpers in regulation. Gatineau (7-16-1-1) also got goals from Jan Stransky, Jean-Philip Chabot and Gerrit Fauser.
Matthew Lachaine had three points (two goals, one assist) while Jordon Southorn and Benjamin Casavant had a goal and an assist each for the Rocket (10-12-1-3).
Junior 3, Wildcats 2
At Montreal, Guillaume Asselin scored the eventual winner early in the third period and added an assist as the Junior handed Moncton its second regulation loss of the weekend.
Pier-Antoine Dion and Alex Wall added goals for Montreal (12-12-0-0).
Pierre-Marc Lessard and Scott Brannon scored for the Wildcats (18-2-2-0), who were undefeated in regulation until Saturday.
