Alberta hockey player Ian McDonald named CIS male athlete of the week

OTTAWA - University of Alberta hockey player Ian McDonald has been named Canadian Interuniversity Sport male athlete of the week.

McDonald, a second-year student from Edmonton, was named tournament MVP at the CIS men's hockey championship after helping the second-seeded Golden Bears capture a record 13th University Cup title.

The six-foot-three, 210-pound forward led all scorers on the weekend with four goals and six points in three games.

McGill hockey player Guillaume Demers was also nominated for the award.
