PLYMOUTH, Mich. - A.J. Jenks scored three times as the Plymouth Whalers defeated the Barrie Colts 4-1 in Ontario Hockey League action Saturday night.
Jenks, a highly rated prospect for this June's NHL Draft, snapped a scoreless draw midway through the second period, tapping in a rebound while the teams were 4-on-4. He then added power play goals two minutes apart late in the second and early in the third. The Wolverine Lake, Mich. native now has 18 goals on the season.
Chris Terry had the other goal and two assists for Plymouth (18-8-1-2). Goaltender Jeremy Smith, the OHL's Save Percentage leader, turned aside 24 shots, allowing just an Alex Hutchings goal with 8:31 remaining.
Barrie (17-13-1-1) got 31 saves from Michael Hutchinson.
