OTTAWA - Corey Cowick and Logan Couture each had a goal and an assist Friday night as the Ottawa 67's defeated the Peterborough Petes 3-2 on Friday night in the Ontario Hockey League.
The Game meant nothing in the standings for the 67's (39-21-5-2) who will finish third in the Eastern Conference when the regular season concludes Sunday.
It meant a lot more to the Petes (28-37-1-2), who are fighting with the Oshawa Generals and Sudbury Wolves for the final two playoff spots in the East.
Peterborough, which finished its season against Ottawa, is two points up on the Generals and three on the Wolves. Oshawa has one game remaining and Sudbury two.
Jon Carnevale also scored for the 67's while Justin Larson and Sergey Korostin replied for the Petes.
"Sure they worry me," 67's coach and general manager Brian Kilrea said of games that mean everything to one team and nothing to the other. "Especially when you got the other guys that are trying to improve their situation. But these kids are going to keep going no matter what. You don't want to relax and then try and turn it on again come the playoffs."
