MONTREAL -- Things are going so well for Alex Galchenyuk right now that he is even anticipating the kind of goals he will score during practice.

Galchenyuk scored his second goal of the game at 1:59 of overtime to give the Montreal Canadiens a 4-3 win against the Dallas Stars at Bell Centre on Tuesday.

MONTREAL -- Dallas Stars defenseman Jason Demers is expected to be out long-term after sustaining an upper-body injury in a 4-3 overtime loss at the Montreal Canadiens, coach Lindy Ruff said Tuesday.

Demers fell into the boards midway through the second period when he was pushed by Canadiens forward Lucas Lessio. Stars trainers appeared to be working on his right shoulder on the bench before he left to go to the dressing room.

MONTREAL -- Montreal Canadiens right wing Brendan Gallagher will miss 2-3 weeks with a lower-body injury, the team announced Tuesday.

Gallagher left a 4-2 loss at the Winnipeg Jets on Saturday in the first period after he got tied up with Jets center Marko Dano and fell awkwardly. He did not play against the Dallas Stars on Tuesday.

MONTREAL -- Dallas Stars right wing Patrick Eaves will return to the lineup against the Montreal Canadiens at Bell Centre on Tuesday.

Eaves missed the past seven games while recovering from pneumonia.

"I feel good. I just got a little sick there, or really sick, but I feel good," Eaves said after the morning skate. "This is always a great building to play in, so having your first game back here is pretty exciting."

BROSSARD, Quebec - Montreal Canadiens right wing Brendan Gallagher won't play against the Dallas Stars on Tuesday (7:30 p.m. ET; FS-SW, RDS, SNE, NHL.TV) because of a lower-body injury, coach Michel Therrien said Monday.

Gallagher left the 4-2 loss at the Winnipeg Jets on Saturday in the first period after he got tied up with Jets center Marko Dano and fell awkwardly while doing the splits.
