Carter, Kopitar power Kings past Canucks

Forwards combine for five points in victory @NHL

Jeff Carter scored two goals in the third period, and Jonathan Quick made 21 saves to help the Los Angeles Kings to a 5-1 win against the Vancouver Canucks at Staples Center on Monday.

Anze Kopitar (one goal, two assists) and Drew Doughty had multipoint games for Los Angeles (39-22-4), which moved within a point of the Anaheim Ducks for first place in the Pacific Division. The Kings continue their five-game homestand Wednesday against the Washington Capitals.

Vancouver Canucks captain Henrik Sedin won't play Monday against the Los Angeles Kings.

The forward is back in Vancouver being evaluated for an upper-body injury sustained in a 4-2 win against the San Jose Sharks on Saturday, coach Willie Desjardins said Monday.
