The top 105 players available for the 2012 NHL Draft will congregate in Toronto at the end of May for the annual NHL Scouting Combine.
This year's invitation list includes the top 88 North American players (78 skaters, 10 goalies) and top 17 European performers (14 skaters, three goalies).
Among the North American contingent is NHL Central Scouting's top-rated skater, Sarnia Sting right wing Nail Yakupov, who has 80 goals and 170 points in 107 games spanning two seasons in the Ontario Hockey League. Top European center Filip Forsberg of Leksands IF in the Allsvenskan in Sweden will also be in attendance. Forsberg had eight goals and 17 points in 43 games with Leksand this season.
Also on the list are the top defensemen available -- Ryan Murray of the Everett Silvertips, Morgan Rielly of the Moose Jaw Warriors, Cody Ceci of the Ottawa 67's, Olli Maatta of the London Knights and Jacob Trouba of the U.S. Under-18 National Team Development Program.
Top North American goalies Malcolm Subban of the Belleville Bulls and Brandon Whitney of the Victoriaville Tigres, and European shot blockers Andrei Vasilevski of Tolpar Ufa in Russia and Oscar Dansk of Brynas in Sweden also will be in attendance.
Some of the other top European-based prospects coming over include left wing Teuvo Teravainen of Finland, right wing Sebastian Collberg of Sweden, Tomas Hertl of the Czech Republic, Nikolay Prokhorkin of Russia and defenseman Hampus Lindholm of Sweden.
The Combine, which will run May 28-June 2, is an opportunity for teams to meet and interview prospects, as well as see them tested in an off-ice setting. Testing will be conducted June 1-2 at the Toronto International Centre.
