Toronto & Detroit Alumni Reunite for Original Six Battle
Tickets on Sale Saturday, January 8
(January 7, 2005) -- Detroit Red Wings Alumni President Lee Norwood and Vice-President Shawn Burr today announced the first annual Alumni Showdown in Hockeytown, an Original Six battle at Joe Louis Arena between Detroit and Toronto alumni on Saturday, February 12th at 7:00 pm.
This unique opportunity to cheer on your retired Red Wings heroes in one of hockey's greatest rivalries promises to be both highly competitive and fun for players and fans. All fans in attendance will be entered into a post-game drawing for a chance to win the game jerseys worn by the players. In addition to the game, fans can purchase a limited number of tickets to game-day autograph session with all players from both teams and a post-game reception with both teams in the JLA Olympia Club.
Former Red Wings greats scheduled to attend include Mickey Redmond, Dino Cicarelli, Reed Larson, John Ogrodnick, Mark Howe and Dennis Hextal. Behind the bench for the Wings alumni will be Jacques Demers. Complete rosters will be announced in the coming weeks.
The Maple Leaf Alumni squad will include Wendel Clark, Wilf Paiement, Rod Seiling and two of the three Leafs to ever score 50 goals in a season -- Gary Leeman and Rick Vaive.
Tickets go on sale to the public Saturday, January 8th at 10:00 am and are just $10 for upper bowl and $20 for lower bowl seating. Fans can purchase tickets at the Joe Louis Arena box office, all TicketMaster centers, Hockeytown Authentics in Troy, The Hockeytown Cafe, or charge by phone at 248-645-6666.
