Shore Brings Two-Way Game To The Table

Nick Shore and his brother Drew both play for the University of Denver but that’s where the comparison ends. Drew, the older brother, is an offensively gifted player while his brother delivers a more all-around game.

“I am a two-way-centre. I like to play both ends of the ice. I have an offensive side but then again you have to be really responsible in your defensive end.”

Having an older brother blaze a trail, Nick said, is a bonus.

“He’s always been a very influential person in my life,” Nick said. “He has always been there to push me. We have a great relationship.”

Hockey in Denver has grown from the top down. The Avalanche and the University of Denver have created interest at the grass roots level and while logistical problems remain, Shore expects a rising tide of players from the area.

“I think the big thing about Colorado hockey is it continues to grow,” he said.

“The youth leagues are playing teams against teams from Michigan, Colorado and Texas. Because of that, you get great exposure.”
