(September 11, 2005) -- Toronto Maple Leafs prospects completed their four game tournament in Ottawa on Saturday with their fourth straight win. The Leafs defeated the Florida Panther rookies 2-1 at the Civic Centre.
All three goals were scored in the last five minutes of the game. After limited scoring chances in the first 55 mintes of the game, a goal by John Mitchell, a 2003 Entry Draft pick -- 158th overall, started the scoring with just 4:22 left in regulation time.
Leaf defenceman Steven Later, signed by the Leafs this summer, scored less than three minutes later. Florida Panther Anthony Stewart ruined Justin Pogge's shutout bid with a goal with just 16 seconds left in the game.
Pogge, a 2004 Entry Draft pick and 90th overall selection, earned his second win, finishing the tournament with a 1.00 goals against average and a .962 save percentage.
The Leaf prospects returned to Toronto after the game and will join the rest of the Leafs for the main training camp beginning Monday with medicals and fitness testing.
