Report: Lombardi To Be At Leafs Camp

by Matt Iaboni / Toronto Maple Leafs

With training camp just over a month away, a report in USA Today on Friday states that Brian Burke and the Maple Leafs expect forward Matthew Lombardi to be at training camp this fall. You can read the full report here.

Lombardi played just two games last season with the Nashville Predators before suffering a concussion. The speedy forward was acquired from the Predators along with defenceman Cody Franson back on July 3rd. During the 2009-10 season, Lombardi set career highs in assists (34) and points (53) while posting 19 goals.

Brian Burke told USA Today's Kevin Allen: "He feels really good. The most recent medical report we had on him is that the remaining discomfort he's having isn't concussion-related."

Despite the good news the Leafs won't rush Lombardi back into action.

In the Toronto Sun, Burke tells Lance Hornby that "as we always do with head injuries, we’ll err on the side of caution. " Read the story here.
