Here's a sampling of what the Leafs and Flames had to say following a 5-2 Toronto win at Air Canada Centre.
Mike Babcock on the play of William Nylander's line
I thought their line was good and I thought he was good defensively tonight. He back-checked hard, turned some pucks over, was good on d-zone faceoffs. You know, those things are what matters to me more than the other stuff. The other stuff, we know what he has that. Him and Hyman and P.A. (Parenteau) were a good line tonight. Very effective.
The more games you play, the more confident you get. I won't say that I'll keep putting up this amount of points. I just want to work every day and get better.
P-A Parenteau on playing with Zach Hyman and Nylander
It’s fun. They bring a lot of energy to our team. A lot of skills as well. I think we all benefit from that here.
It’s awesome. I think our line is really starting to click, with P.A. and Will and myself and we’re having a lot of fun.
Calgary Flames head coach Bob Hartley
We didn’t really have a good start. I felt that we didn’t have the same intensity as last night, the same jump. We knew that it would be a fast-paced game and they got timely goals and at the end, they were better than us.
Calgary Flames forward Matt Stajan
We came out a little flat. It wasn’t a very good first period for us. There’s no excuses but they play a very tight system. They’re obviously well coached. They keep you on the outside as much as they can so you’ve got to try to generate and they did a good job of boxing us out all over the ice and we had a tough time getting chances. It all began with us coming out flat. We didn’t set the tone how we wanted early in the game and it ended up costing us.
