The Leafs held their morning skate on Tuesday at American Airlines Center in Dallas. Here's a sampling of what they had to say off the ice...
Joffrey Lupul on playing with Bozak/Kessel:
My role changes a little bit playing with Phil and Tyler. You try to make a few more plays offensively and then I want to be the guy that gets to the net front on that line to create some havoc there. I just try and prepare myself no matter who I'm playing with... I'm pretty comfortable playing with those guys. We played together for a long time and I think Tyler's game has evolved since then, he's certainly a more productive offensive player. You can see him with more confidence and looking to shoot more than he did in the past. I just want to get in on the forecheck for that line, get to the front of the net and get myself open for shots because both of those guys can find you.
Roman Polak on moving on from Chicago and onto Dallas:
We did lots of good things but we also did lots of bad things. Turnovers at both bluelines killed us. They're like Chicago, they have a fast team and they're going to be coming at you at full speed. We have to be ready for that and just put the puck in.
Jake Gardiner on taking on the Stars offensive unit:
It's a pretty dynamic line, Seguin has 25 goals now. They can score at any moment of the game... You're aware of who you're on against at whistles. At home you know who you're playing against and on the road they obviously get to pick so it's different that way. Randy likes to match lines with Dion and Franny against their top line. You've just got to be aware of it.
Stephane Robidas on Dallas:
I spent most of my career here, my life was here, everything went well here with the organization. I left on really good terms, they were honest and fair with me the whole way and I've got nothing but good things to say about the city of Dallas and the organization.
Randy Carlyle on the Stars:
This is an opportunity for us to give ourselves a little bit of a Christmas gift. That's what the message is. We've got to go out and play the way we're capable of playing. I thought we were much better in Chicago. Reviewing the tape, with some of the things we didn't do against Philadelphia we were much better in Chicago but the score didn't indicate that. When you lose 4-0 it looks like you didn't do much right but we did a lot of things that are closer to where we need to get to. If we fire up the offence a bit more, cut down the turnovers and don't give up a power play goal it's a different hockey game.
