Maple Leafs recall Frederik Gauthier

The Toronto Maple Leafs announced Thursday that the team has recalled forward Frederik Gauthier from the Toronto Marlies (AHL) on an emergency basis. Forward Milan Michalek will miss the remainder of the season with a knee injury.

Gauthier, 20, has skated in two games with the Maple Leafs this season. The Laval, Quebec native has also appeared in 54 games with the Toronto Marlies, registering 17 points (six goals, 11 assists) and 10 penalty minutes. Gauthier was drafted by the Maple Leafs in the first round (21st overall) of the 2013 NHL Draft.

The Maple Leafs return to the ice tonight when they host the Detroit Red Wings at 7 p.m.
