Maple Leafs recall Eriksson from St. John's

" The Toronto Maple Leafs announced Saturday that defenceman Anders Eriksson has been recalled from the St. John's Maple Leafs of the American Hockey League.

Eriksson, 28, has appeared in 45 games for St. John's this season and has collected 24 points (three goals, 21 assists) with 77 penalty minutes. He ranks first on the team in assists, first in games played (tie) and fourth in points (tie). Eriksson also leads all team defencemen in assists, points and shots (87). The native of Bollnas, Sweden played 34 games with Toronto last year and collected two assists with 12 minutes in penalties. In addition, he appeared in 10 NHL playoff games.

Eriksson has played 342 career NHL games (Detroit, Chicago, Florida, Toronto) and has registered 103 points (14 goals, 89 assists) with 140 penalty minutes. He was signed as an unrestricted free agent by Toronto July 4, 2001 and was originally Detroit's first choice, 22nd overall in the 1993 Entry Draft.
