TORONTO -- Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Jyrki Lumme has been suspended two games, without pay, for a crosschecking incident in NHL Game #911 against the Buffalo Sabres Saturday night, the National Hockey League announced today.

Based on the average annual value of his contract, Lumme forfeits $44,716.78 in salary. The money goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.

At 8:30 of the third period, Lumme crosschecked the upper body of Buffalo player J.P. Dumont. He received a minor penalty.

Lumme will miss Toronto's game tonight in Washington and Wednesday night's game at Detroit. He will be eligible to return Saturday night against Montreal.
