Leafs Recall Ondrus From Marlies

Brian Burke, president and general manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs, announced Thursday that the hockey club has recalled forward Ben Ondrus from the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League. The Marlies’ captain is expected to join the Leafs for their game tonight in Washington.


Ondrus, 26, played in 50 games with the Marlies this season registering nine goals and six assists for 15 points with 76 penalty minutes. A native of Sherwood Park, Alberta, Ondrus has played 41 career NHL games with the Maple Leafs posting two assists and 43 penalty minutes.

The 6-0, 194-pound winger was signed as a free agent by Toronto May 27, 2004.
