by Staff Writer / Toronto Maple Leafs

The Toronto Maple Leafs announced Monday that the team has recalled forward Josh Leivo from the American Hockey League’s Toronto Marlies. The Maple Leafs also announced that forward James van Riemsdyk is out approximately 6-8 weeks with a non-displaced fracture in his left foot.

Leivo, 22, has registered 30 points (11 goals, 19 assists) in 35 games with the Marlies this season and was named an AHL All-Star last week. Leivo has recorded three points (two goals, one assist) in 16 previous NHL games after being selected by Toronto in the third round (86th overall) of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.

The Maple Leafs return to the ice on Wednesday when they host the Columbus Blue Jackets at Air Canada Centre at 7 p.m.
