Leafs Look To Lighten Mood At Practice

by Mike Ulmer / Toronto Maple Leafs
It was fun day at the MasterCard Centre For Hockey Excellence as the Leafs practiced in the wake of one point in their last six games.

Tennis balls were used for dodge ball. The players played an 11 on 11 scrimmage with multiple pucks. Players were pelted with tennis balls as they ran a gauntlet between teammates stationed on the side boards.

The session marked the first appearance at practice for Phil Kessel, obtained for three draft picks by GM Brian Burke.

The goalies at practice were Joey MacDonald and James Reimer. Jonas Gustavsson is expected to start skating within the next couple of days.

Also missing was defenceman Mike Van Ryn. There is no date for a return for Van Ryn who is out with a knee injury.
