Leafs Get Fifth Round Pick From Devils
by Staff Writer / Toronto Maple Leafs Brian Burke, president and general manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs, announced Wednesday that the team has traded Martin Skoula to the New Jersey Devils. In exchange, the Maple Leafs will receive the Devils’ fifth-round draft choice in 2010. Skoula was obtained yesterday from the Pittsburgh Penguins along with Luca Caputi in exchange for Alexei Ponikarovsky.
Skoula, 30, was Colorado’s second choice, 17th overall, in the 1998 Entry Draft. He has three goals and five assists in 33 games with the Penguins this season.
