The Maple Leafs are in Vancouver tonight as they host the Canucks, here are the Leafs three keys to a win.
The Maple Leafs had a poor showing in Calgary, and with the exception of a few players, there just wasn’t a lot of hitting. Toronto has to be more physical and involved in the game. We get that the motivation levels are low, but get involved and get engaged in the game. Otherwise, the Leafs could be in for another world of hurt against Vancouver.
While there was some success on the power play, it’s hard to ignore a five minute power play the Leafs had on Friday night which resulted in not one, but two shorthanded goals allowed. It’s unacceptable. Vancouver has the fourth best penalty kill in the NHL and look to stifle any opportunity that Toronto will get. A solid showing on special teams will make it easier for a Toronto win.
Get the offence going
David Booth has been on fire as of late. He scored twice in the Leafs 6-3 loss to Calgary. He is riding a season high six-game point streak (five goals, two assists) and is fighting for his future in the NHL. His desperation is something the Leafs could look to fuel off of. Joffrey Lupul has played 13 straight games without registering a point. Turn up the desperation level and kick up the offence.
